Today’s first design inspiration is a piece of street art by Megx out of Germany. As you can see, he transformed a bridge into giant Lego pieces. I’m a strong advocate of all types of art and I do have a passion for street art so it’s great to see some artists getting the recognition for the great art that they create and get help from communities to help beautify their cities. I like how he kept the shapes simple, using solid dark colors, rather than shading for the inset or bottom of the Lego pieces.
If you take a look at his site, (it is in German) you can see other views of the finished piece to see how he tackled the perspective issue. From the side, you can see the round top shapes that Legos are famous for. Above you can see how the painted pieces actually appear to line up and be clipped into place, similar to actual Lego pieces. I really like this concept and I’m glad that the government helped work with him to turn his idea into a reality. (via From Up North’s Street Art Collection)
