Today’s design inspiration is a poster design titled Reflection which uses a quote by Charles Reade as the foundation of the piece. The quote reads “Art is not imitation, but illusion.” and is on the bottom of the pice which happens to be split horizontally, the top half white and the bottom half black. Along with the quote, is the word ART with what at first glance looks like the mirrored reflection. However, the reflection is also flipped to go in the opposite direction.
I really like this interpretation of how art isn’t a mere imitation, it’s actually an illusion. Art and other objects play tricks on our eyes every day. Some things may look to be one thing but often times are at least a slight variation of what is really there. I like the use of red on white and white on black to make a bold statement. The designer also used texture to give the pice more depth. I want this to hang by my desk, I may need to pick one up. (via Design You Trust)
