For today’s first design inspiration I’m finally sharing another website. The site Every Last Drop is a site that is devoted to open the eyes of UK citizens to the copious amounts of water being used and wasted every day. The site walks you through daily tasks and lets you know how much water is consumed by doing those tasks. They show the difference from a 5 minute shower to a standard bath, the amount of water that is used to go into our food and clothing and even goes on to explain that an astounding 1/3 of their water is lost through leaky pipes before it even gets to the homes.
Now to the design aspects to the site. After all that is why we’re here, right? This site uses some really nifty parallax scrolling to take you through this journey of a man to teach you about his daily consumption. The animations are pretty slick whether you use the arrows to scroll quickly from location to location or if you manually scroll to slowly watch the elements enter and leave the screen. I recommend using the arrows at least one time through to see how the website was designed to be viewed. The vector graphics used are detailed enough to give that “cartoony” realistic feel, yet simplistic enough to not take away from the messages being presented. After looking at this site, I’ll be sure to be sharing more parallax sites to come as I’ve finally been re-introduced to these vertical websites. Enjoy! (via SwissMiss)
