Today’s first design inspiration is a series of images called Sports Shadow. This series uses the contrasting white line to change how the shadow appears to be laying on the ground. The really interesting part about how this works is that if you remove the shadow, the lines seem to just be a 2 dimensional object laying on the ground. When the shadow is added however, that line take a 3 dimensional effect and bends the shadow, giving immense depth to each image. I really like the smooth gradient colors in the background for each image. I think my favorite part of the project is the new shapes that each object’s shadow takes on. They end up forming these really cool shapes with hard angles. The project didn’t give too much information on how these images were created so I’m not totally sure how these were created or how much Photoshop was used, but these pieces are really neat.
