Today’s first design inspiration is a series of “shadow pictures” titled ‘The Art of Shadows’ by Kumi Yamashita out of New York. All of the pictures in this series play on the viewer’s perspective and use organic shapes or numbers/letters combined with precise lighting to create really interesting effect. The artist arranges objects on a wall in such a way that when hit with light, it produces a completely different image as the shadow. By stacking the objects and giving you a head on view, you can’t really see how the designs are being created which adds some mystery to the set and makes you want to see more and figure out how these were done. I really like this concept and the vision that you need to get these successful finished pieces is amazing.
