This is a new one for me, a series of vintage cigarette ads that actually promoted health benefits. No matter what your stance is on smoking, I think we’re all in agreement that it isn’t healthy. These ads use some doctor/dentist testimonies, a potential weight loss benefit, and other medical benefits to claim that cigarettes are healthy and one brand is better than another. As seen above, Camel claimed that they they were the fresh cigarette that would give your throat a vacation. Pair that with a doctor on the right hand side of the 2 page spread advertisement and you’ve got what looks to be a credible source.
